Kingpins New York FW2020 show focused on the future of the denim industry. After the announcement of exhibitor standards and requirements in the areas of Corporate Social Responsibility and Chemical Management Kingpins New York focused on promoting and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals. The event welcomed industry representatives included USA, Canada, Mexico, Paraguay, England, Colombia, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Brazil.

The Conscious Fashion Campaign presented a panel “Good Jeans: Denim Industry as a driver for the Sustainable Development Goals” moderated by Lucie Brigham, Chief of Office, United Nations Office for Partnerships. Panelists included: Kerry Bannigan, Founder, Conscious Fashion Campaign; Meral Guzel, Women’s Empowerment Principles Specialist – Empower Women | UN Women | WEPs | WeLearn | BuyFromWomen; Amber BARTH, Senior Programme Officer, International Labour Organization; and Riefqah Jappie, International Trade Center Representative to the UN.

Brands met on the show floor with the United Nations Office for Partnerships to learn more about the Sustainable Development Goals and about the opportunities for collaboration with the United Nations for the denim industry to achieve their goals. Brand consultations included GAP, Target, Madewell, DKNY, American Eage, B Sides, Joe’s Jeans, Tommy Hilfiger and Catherine Ryu Design
