Pildora, the online community for emerging sustainable brands from fashion to accessories and beauty, is launching an e-commerce marketplace on Earth Day April 22, 2020. Founded in 2018 by Christina Almeida, Pildora has expanded from events to the new site Pildora.com which carries more than 100 brands sourced from 23 countries, including Australia, Spain, France, the United States, where Christina was born, and Mexico, where she was raised.

Christina shares: “I launched Pildora after encountering small sustainable brands while completing a Master’s Degree at Parsons. I realized that many of the brands did not have the resources and exposure that they needed to create a viable business, whether from needing credible public relations, quality photography or business guidance in general. Many of these brands are stronger together and that is the foundation of Pildora.”

The Conscious Fashion Campaign, in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Partnerships, champions fashion as an influential sector to address the world’s most pressing issues and lead a future that leaves no one behind. The campaign is dedicated to driving change through advocacy, education and engagement of industry stakeholders to create a sustainable future for all.

Pildora, in partnership with the Conscious Fashion Campaign, is integrating the Sustainable Development Goals into the platform highlighting consumers’ fashion that is mindful of social, economic and environmental impact. Pildora’s brand partners will identify and assign the platform’s relevant sustainable attributes which include recycled, fair trade, small-batch, vegan, GOTS certified and more as well as the Sustainable Development Goal(s) to each piece in an effort to drive the achievement of the 2030 agenda. Each brand must meet the three Es — environmental, ethical and economic — which covers carbon footprint, manufacturing, fair treatment of workers, community building, and philanthropy.

Kerry Bannigan, Founder, Conscious Fashion Campaign, comments: “Pildora’s expansion comes at a time where a greener future needs to be at the forefront of consumer’s minds. During this unprecedented time, we are forced to assess the damage we have done to the planet and our fellow humans. The Sustainable Development Goals provide us a roadmap to recovery and together we need to explore how we can build back better.

Brands that will be featured on Pildora include Canna, Andagain, Vert Toi, Majoie Maldives, and Bold Swim.
